For over 30+ years Bishop Troy V. Carter has been baptized in Jesus name and filled with the Holy Ghost according to Acts 2:38. He was called into ministry at the age of 16 and has been preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ for over 3 decades.  

 

Bishop Carter is the pastor and founder of Open Heart Way of the Cross Church, where he’s been pastoring for 22+ years. Under Bishop Carter’s leadership, the church has experience growth, resilience, and maturity with a host of souls being added to the Kingdom of God all over the DC/Metropolitan area.  Bishop Carter led the church in renting its first location in Oxon Hill, MD in September 2001, renovating its 2nd location in District Heights, MD in June 2009, and purchasing its 3rd location in Capitol Heights, MD in May 2014. In August 2015 Bishop Carter led the construction of a new state of the art sanctuary seating 240 parishioners at the Capitol Heights, MD location. 

 

In 2007 and 2009 Bishop Carter was recognized by the WYCB Radio Station of the DC/Metropolitan area, where he received accolades and awards for excellence in radio through the weekly “The Heartbeat of Truth” radio ministry. In 2009 he was also showcased as a featured pastor on the widely published WYCB Pastors Calendar. Bishop Carter’s ministry has touched countless lives of all ages throughout the eastern seaboard of the United States and reaches lives abroad through his weekly Online Bible Study and various social media outlets such as Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter. 

 

His compassion and love for people of all walks of life has resulted in a growing, lively, and thriving ministry, which goes beyond the boundaries of church as usual. Bishop Carter has been part of the Way of the Cross Church, Intl. for 29 years and is a former member of Bethany Way of the Cross Church. In 2001, Bishop Carter graduated from Logos Christian College where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Theological Studies with valedictorian honors and also holds an associate degree in Computer Programing and Analysis. Bishop Carter works tirelessly with other pastors to help them to develop their ministries. Gainfully employed as a Senior Associate with Booz Allen Hamilton, he leads enterprise IT strategy and development efforts for multiple government agencies. 

   

Bishop Carter has been married to First Lady Latisha Carter for 24 years and they’ve been blessed with 3 wonderful children Wesley, Nicholas, and Micheala. Bishop Carter’s goal and mission remains the same, to reach this generation with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
