First Lady Latisha Carter was born in Edenton, NC. She has two sisters and one brother. Latisha was educated in the public schools system in Newport News, VA and graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a Degree in Criminal Justice.
As a young girl, Latisha was baptized in Jesus name and received the gift of the Holy Ghost at the age of 12. She was raised at the Living Waters Way of the Cross Church, in Newport News, VA under the pastoral leadership of Bishop James Jackson.
Latisha has been the wife of Bishop Troy Carter for 20 years. They are the proud parents of three children: Wesley, Nicholas and Micheala. In September of 2001, she became the First Lady of Open Heart Way of the Cross Church. She has been an active Christian for over 30+ years and has served in the community and abroad in such positions as mentor and youth counselor. Latisha has taught high school Math, Science, and Special Education in the Prince Georges County school system for 5+ years and in Anne Arundel County school system for 3 years. Also, in 2007 she started the Carter Village Daycare in her home, “To God be the Glory for the things He has done”.
One of Latisha's favorite scriptures is I Thessalonians 5:18 - “In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you”.
